House of Beauty Secrets Snail Brightening Snail Scrub + gigawhite

Here's a review of another House of Beauty Secrets product.

Snail brightening body scrub contains

Macadamia oil -
Macadamia Nut Oil contains one of the highest sources of Palmitoleic Fatty Acids, between 16 to 23%. Palmitoleic is vital for delaying skin and cell aging.

Gigawhite- Is one of the latest innovation in skin whitening. The best alternative to the dangerous hydroquinone.

Snail extracts- enhances skin elasticity; helps the skin becomes smooth and younger looking.

Goat's milk- of course Cleopatra's secret is no longer a secret, it is widely used in beauty products because of it's proven whitening, moisturizing and anti aging effects.

Imported sea beads- Exfoliates dead skin cells.

Skin moisturizers- moisturizes the skin to give you not only whiter, but silkier skin.

Sizes:
300 gms- 450.00
150 gms- 250.00

Here is 150 grams and it can last up to 2 months when used 2 to 3 times a week.
As you can see, the product has lots of exfoliating beads (that's what I call them)
and I think that's what makes it a good scrub.
Every scoop of the product has just the right amount of beads and cream.
It isn't like other scrubs out there.

Some products have the beads only. They call it salt scrubs.
And you cant avoid over scrubbing your skin when you use them.
Here, you have moisturizing cream and the scrub.
So while sloughing off dead skin cells, you were able to moisturize your skin too!
And gosh! This smells amazing! This product made me believe in forever.
(sorry Marcelo Santos III totoo ang forever!) forever as in I wanna use this forever! Haha.

This is a must for me because I shave my legs. I once read that exfoliating your skin can help prevent ingrown hair. So, to shaving women out there, consider this as a new best friend!

After bathing, I feel that my skin is smooth, and there's no doubt about it because even my husband noticed it. He can't keep his hand off of me because it's so smooth. And the scent, it lingers on my skin for an hour or so.

PROS:
Nice scent
Perfect ratio of scrub and cream
Makes skin softer
Scent lasts for an hour after bathing
Affordable because it lasts long

CONS:
Available only through online sellers
Addictive
Once you use it you can't stop haha
May cause irritation if you overdo it
(do not over-scrub your skin, just sniff the product if you can't get enough of it)

House of Beauty Secrets Skin Moist Lotion

Summer is just around the corner. So, many girls are now preparing for it.
From their bikini bodies, to their hairstyles, outfits, summer destinations and
of course their summer essentials.
For me, the most important thing to own this summer is a sunblock.
Many people actually thought that staying at home saves their skin
from the sun's damaging rays but actually it's not.
Going out or staying at home, there's no escape from the heat wave and UV rays from the sun.
So using a sunblock everyday can protect your skin.

But there are a lot of sunblock in the market today, what brand shall I choose?
Some sunblock gives protection but feels sticky, some sunblocks are of good quality but pricey.

But here, I found House of Beauty Secrets Skin Moist Lotion w/ sunblock SPF 60.
It has goat's milk and vitamin e. Which are both good for the skin.
It must be applied 1 hour prior to sun exposure.

The packaging:
Well the packaging seems cheap because of the plastic cap. :(
But the sticker on the packaging is really inviting! The first time that I saw this, I really wanted to try it out.

The content:

It has light textured formula but it moisturizes well. It doesn't feel sticky at all.
And it has a refreshing scent! So that's hitting multiple birds with one stone.
Moisture + sun protection + non sticky + good scent= overall a good product!

One thing that I noticed was that it don't last long,
but it's actually OK because you're supposed to reapply sunblock every hour or two.
Depending on your activities and sweat.

Final Verdict:
This is a good product with an affordable price.

Safeguard Derma Sense Saves The Day!

I guess a lot of girls and boys are raving about the new Safeguard Derma Sense for Acne prone skin. Even my sister use it and she's happy with the results. But there's one more variant that is also a life saver.

It is the Safeguard Derma Sense for Sensitive skin.

It is:
Specially designed for easily irritated skin
Mild, unscented formula
No addition of alcohol and dyes

Safeguard Derma Sense gently cleanses sensitive skin, while maintaining your skin's natural defense layer.

It costs P45.65 (90g)

To know why I love this product so much, here is a little information about my skin condition.
I have eczema since I was a child.

What is eczema?
Eczema (dermatitis): A particular type of inflammatory reaction of the skin in which there is reddening, swelling, bumps, and crusting of the skin followed, finally, by thickening and scaling of the skin.

Common triggers of eczema:
* chemicals found in cleaners and detergents that dry out the skin
* rough scratchy material like wool
* synthetic fabrics
* raised body temperature
* sweating
* temperature changes

* a sudden drop in humidity
Other triggers include stress, food allergies, animal dander, and upper respiratory infections.
What Are the Symptoms of Eczema?
Eczema is characterized by itchy, dry, rough, flakey, inflamed, and irritated skin. It can flare up, subside, and then flare up again. It can occur anywhere but usually affects the arm, inner elbow, back of the knee, or head (particularly the cheeks and the scalp).. It is not contagious and becomes less severe with age.

Having eczema is hard and its kinda pricey. I remember going to dermatologist and pay about P3,000 for the soaps, ointments and medicines that will make my skin go back to normal. And it will only last for a few weeks. I obviously cannot afford that kind of maintenance for my skin so I begun searching and searching for an alternative maintenance. I tried almost all of the soaps that has "for sensitive skin" label. There are several times that I purchased organic soaps like coconut milk soap and olive oil soap because of the thought that it will soothe my dry and sensitive skin because it says that it is organic and free of chemicals. But it only made my skin superiorly dry. And I purchased another organic lotion, hoping that it will work on my dry skin. But, to my disappointment, it triggered my eczema.  I got rashes on the back of my elbow (where my eczema usually appears). And because I cannot afford derma treatments, I just wait for it to subside.

Then, May 17,2014 we are grocery shopping again. I am torn, puzzled, confused, clueless on what soap to try next. Then a lady in white approached me (an angel, maybe?)
She asked me,"What is your skin concern?" And I answered, "Eczema."

She showed me Safeguard Derma Sense Gently cleanses Sensitive Skin and I was surprised because I am not aware that they have this variant. I knew about the acne prone variant only but not this. At first I was kinda hesitant to get one because this is safeguard, this is known for anti-bacterial properties and anything anti-bacterial damages my skin. But when I heard that this is milder than the usual safeguard white, this is unscented, no additional alcohol and dyes, I realized that this passed my qualifications for a soap. So i gave it a try.

I used it on me and on my son who also has eczema. That time, my son has a lot of wounds on his legs because he loves sitting on the floor while playing. After a week, I saw that my skin are getting clearer, my skin aren't dry, I do not get occasional rashes that I used to have. My son has less wounds, and no new rashes appearing. I am happy with the results. This is a ++ product for me, because it doesn't only cleanse without irritation, it is also anti-bacterial to protect me and my son from common diseases. On my 4 months of using this product, I can say that this will be forever on our hygiene kit.

If you know someone who has sensitive skin, and do not have idea on what soap to use next, please share my story and recommend safeguard derma sense.

Carefull Whisper

RED DAYS!!!!!!!

Two girls having conversation after class
girl 1: "meron ba? (sabay talikod)"
girl 2: OMG meron!

Relate much huh? Because we all experienced that. Well, it makes us happy when we are remembering our highschool days but one thing's I don't ever want to remember. The moment that I have stained my school uniform.

Way back to 2000, I was 10 years old when I had my first menstruation. It was frustrating, I was clueless on how to handle my red days. All that I knew is that I have to use sanitary napkins. So, the first brand that I used was this popular brand because that's what my sister was using too. I can still remember that dyahe feeling when I had no idea how to put it properly. Sometimes I put it too low, sometimes too high. Because the pad is short. And, as a 10 years old girl, I am pretty active with all the playing and running that we do after school so my pad tends to move. hay!! having period at such an early age is a curse! I really hated it that time.

There was a time, when I was in grade 5, I'm 11 years old. I am on a theater workshop, so the director will make you do different things, different activities, tambling, talon, upo, baluktot, higa etc. So, I was enjoying our class when I realized "shocks meron nga pala ako" It was too late because I already stained my acid wash jeans! So think about the light color of my pants, the stain was so damn obvious!! So I was thinking what I must do. Iniisip ko, wala naman akong pamalit, alangan maghubad ako dito, wala naman ako pamasahe pauwi sa bahay para magtricycle pa ko. Anong ggawin ko?? What I did was to get a piece of long brown envelope, and I used it to cover my back. I was walking home holding an envelope on my back. And two rude boys keep kicking the envelope. Well, bad karma to you guys! It was horrible, I know and I wanna cry for that. *cry cry*

And there, story goes on, stained shorts, pants, skirts, uniforms, bed sheet, blankets, bed and even stuffed toys. And I cant believe that I kept using that brand even if its shortness gives me uncomfortable feeling esp at bedtime. Well, that's what my mom and sister was using and if you wanna use other brand, you have to buy it yourself.

Until the day when I can buy my own things. The day that I can decide for myself. The time when I have a family already and its just me and my husband that's responsible for grocery shopping. I was looking at the different brands of napkins in the supermarket. And I saw Whisper super clean and dry. And I did not hesitate to try it. It was a bit comfortable than the first brand that I used. It absorbs fluid better, I don't feel wet and hot down there,it don't get deformed so I don't have to change pad every 2 hours. And I am feeling well, I feel like I don't have my period. So imagine the comfort that I have when its time to sleep. No more stains on the bed. Promise, you can even ask my husband. Nakabukaka pa ko na nakapatong sakanya ang paa ko habang natutulog. But, you won't see me waking up with that red stain again. Not anymore! =D

Whew, I am never gonna switch to other pads again! I am sticking to whisper forever and ever.

My son's toothpaste hunting journey

Mother, father, brother, sister, how do you brush your teeth? Bow.
This post is going to be about my son's oral care.
I started brushing his teeth when he was 1 year old. I think by that time, he had 5 to 6 teeth.
I started cleaning his teeth with a baby silicone finger toothbrush.

But when he's older and started to eat variety of foods and especially, SWEETS!!

I knew I have to take extra care for his baby set of teeth.
I knew it will be hard to introduce him to toothpaste because of the cooling sensation it gives to our mouth.
And he is not used to that. I planned to buy a kiddie toothbrush and a child friendly toothpaste.

Choosing a flavored toothpaste.

You have to consider what flavor of toothpaste does he like? What is his favorite fruit?
Well for my son, its strawberry. He loves strawberry yogurt, strawberry filled crackers etc.
I bought a strawberry flavored toothpaste in brand A and at first he did not like it.
But it doesn't stop me from taking care of his teeth.
I introduced him to the product over and over again until he got used to the taste.
From then, I thought that I am doing good on taking care of his teeth.
I thought that I am giving him the best protection from cavities.

But one day, something came up on my mind and I asked myself, is this the best quality that I can give him?
I am referring to the brand. Because I only trust one brand for toothpaste. And that is Colgate.

Is it right to settle just for the flavor that your kids will love, sacrificing the protection to cavities that you can get from the best brand? Colgate has strawberry flavor too, but it was meant for girls because it has a barbie packaging. And I dont wanna give it to my son. So I talked to him that I'm switching his favorite strawberry toothpaste to a bubble fruit flavored one. And he was excited about it! Right after we got home, he got the toothpaste from our grocery bag and opened it, and he tasted it. He loves it! What a relief! He then showed it to his tita and when he came back to our room, I saw him licking the tube because he loves the flavor so much! And even asked me "Mommy, toothbrush na tayo." Haha! Right now, I am so relieved from worrying that my child doesn't get enough protection from cavities. I actually got a lot of compliments about my son's teeth.

Here's a photo of him showing his healthy teeth :)

As early as possible, I wanna teach him the importance of having a good set of teeth.
Not only the teeth but a healthy mouth. Because it is the mouth that you use to interact everyday.
With a healthy mouth, you are confident to speak. With a good set of teeth, you are confident to show your smile to the world.

I just wanna share this photo:

Taken last October 2011. My son was 1 year 3 months old.

Majolica Majorca Lash king vs Maybelline Hypercurl Volum Express

Maybelline HyperCurl                               Majolica Majorca Lash king reg price: P795
Volume Express mascara P299, watsons                          But I got it for P499 on sale

The Packaging:
I love the sleek packaging. Very modernly chic!
Black tube with metallic pink font match with silver cap.
Who wouldn't want that?

The Wand:
Maybelline mascara has a curved wand that I like.
It reaches all of my lashes. And it gives me the curl that I need.

The formula:
It has the right formula, not too creamy which is prone to clumping.
And not too thin so it can give your lashes the volume it needs.
It's easy to apply it glides on smoothly coating every lashes.
And it is build-able! 1 coat for a natural look.
2 coats for thicker lashes but still looks natural and 3rd coat to give the volumizing effect lashes.
It's indeed a waterproof mascara and smudge-free! No need to worry for oily skin.
It has a bit of smell. The natural smell of mascaras and other cosmetics.

Worth the price?
Yes!! Definitely! I love this and will repurchase this again!

Almost no clumping. And very very natural looking.

2nd coat of maybelline volum express
Longer, thicker lashes, with minimal clumps.

Removing the mascara:
It is kinda hard to remove which is normal when using waterproof mascara.
I use 2 cotton buds soaked in make up remover to clean one eye.

The Packaging:
It is so nice! The royalty design, the cap, gold and black color. I love it!!
Looking at it makes me want to be a queen!

The Wand:
Majolica Majorca mascara has a straight, thin tip.
The bristles are not as thick as the maybelline.
this kind of brushes gives you a cleaner look, hence less volume.

The Formula:
The moment that I saw it, the first thing that came up my mind is "dry"
It does look dry! Like the mascara that you keep using after 6 months of purchasing it.
But it has fibers that lengthens and thickens your lashes.
It has a faint smell of nail polish which is not a very big thing as you will be applying this on your lashes.

I don't like how it mess with the cap. I want my make up clean.
Always clean and I really really don't like this.
I wish they made the inside of the cap black instead of gold.

1st coat of Majolica Majorca

Just one coat is enough to have a thicker, volumized lashes.
200% of your lashes guarantee!
It may clump easily. The fibers are not working.
The fibers are always at the tip of the wand.
I don't know how to make it work,
I tried mixing it in circular motion but it just don't work.

2nd coat of Majolica Majorca

Thicker lashes, but its a little clumpy.
Must use a lash comb to separate the lashes and make it look cleaner.
I don't wanna be in Wayne Goss' list of spidery lashes.
It's not heavy on my eyes which is a good thing.
I don't recommend this for beginners as I find it hard to apply without messing the eyelid.

Removing the mascara:
I find it easier to remove. Just one cotton buds soaked in make up remover can clean the entire mascara.
Just a mild wipe of cotton buds can remove it. No more falling lashes.

*I am using the eye-stinging ever Ever Bilena make up remover.*

 Maybelline HyperCurl Volum Express
without curling my lashes.
You can see that it is able to give my lashes a natural curl.

Majolica Majorca without curling my lashes.
I don't know why but it just gave me a straight lashes.
I need to curl my lashes first before applying this mascara.

For me, I will repurchase Maybelline HyperCurl Volum Express over Majolica Majorca.
Because Maybelline is a lot cheaper than Majolica Majorca.
But the performance of the two mascaras doesn't really have huge difference.

Cure Natural Aqua Gel Review

As a mother and a housewife, many women are neglecting their skin care routine.
After cooking, I wash the dishes, and after that, I give my son a bath,
then eat lunch and wash the dishes again then clean the house.
Hay??! It's never ending! So housewives are tend to get old early.
And I don't wanna get old! I wanna maintain the youthful look of my skin and my face.
So I must have a good skin care.
The basic skincare routine is Cleanse, tone and moisturize.
But it is also important to exfoliate twice a week.
"Hindi lang kili kili ang nililibag no? hahaha"
And for exfoliation, I found the best product you can ever try.

So this is the new craze! Introduced to us by Sample room! Cure Natural Aqua Gel from Japan. I'm always fascinated by Japanese beauty products and I am so happy that I finally got myself to try this one.
(Big thanks to sample room team!)

This is how the sample looks like:

The leaflet that contains all the information that you need to know.

  And the instructions.

It's good that they got some Q&A section on their leaflets

There's no doubt that this product really does wonder. After all the features on magazines without paid ads!

It contains 5 sachets. It contains more than enough to use on your face.
So I use the remaining product on my knees.

 Teehee! Somebody needs a translator!

This is how it looks like. Gel type but becomes liquid once it's applied on your skin.
Okay, I am so embarrassed as how my hand looks like. Maybe it's because of doing the laundry twice a week. The detergent are making my hands very very dry and gloves are making them itch so bad!

This is my Day 1 Before picture:
I just have to post it in original size for you to see it clearly.
Day 1 Before

As you can see, I got some white dirt on my face. Its my dead skin cells :)
Day 1 Exfoliating

After exfoliating my face, I washed it with water and this is the result.
Day 1 After

What I noticed after using one sachet?
I noticed that it lessened my blackheads, my skin was softer and it doesn't dry my skin.
I didn't expect much this time because its just my first try.

And after 2 days, it's time to exfoliate again!
Day 2 Before
After taking a bath. I know that its best to exfoliate before bedtime but I just need the sun's lighting for the natural color of my picture.

Again, the white dirt.
Day 2 exfoliating

And the after face! haha
Day2 after
What I noticed after day 2?
Same effect as day 1 like lesser blackheads, it still don't dry my skin. But I love the smoother feeling on my face. I felt surprised as I put Ponds Day cream to my face. It's easier to apply, my finger glides smoothly, And I noticed some glow effect :) I love it! I must continue using this!
